This game was developed by Augusta University in conjunction with the Confucius Institute as a fun introduction to Chinese culture and the Chinese New Year Tradition.

Chinese New Year is an important traditional Chinese holiday. In China, it is also known as the Lunar New Year Festival, the literal translation of the modern Chinese name.

Chinese New Year celebrations traditionally ran from Chinese New Years Eve, the last day of the last month of the Chinese calendar, to the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first month, making the festival the longest in the Chinese calendar. Because the Chinese calendar is lunisolar, the Chinese New Year is often referred to as the "Lunar New Year".

Play this game as Shi the lion tries to collect coins to help the villagers protect their village from the monster that visits each New Year! You can learn the animals of the zodiac in a matching game as well as learn customs of Chinese traditions during the Lunar New Year and learn the story of why the New Year is celebrated.
